Video Frame Shots
The following photographs are individual frames of video shot on the second floor balcony of my house on Ridge Road, Wainscott. Ridge Road is 1.3 miles along Wainscott-Northwest Road from East Hampton Airport. Shooting at the height of the second floor of my home provides greater accuracy of perspective for judging height of helicopters in flight in relation to surrounding trees and buildings than if the video were shot at ground level looking up. My home is on one of the highest spots on the moraine. Where I am standing is approximately 120 feet above sea level. Ground level drops off to the west creating a valley. When the helicopters are seen flying through the trees they are actually below the tree line of my property as they fly the valley. I define this “below-tree-top level.
These photos are not manipulated in any way. I don’t have the skill or the knowledge to “photo shop†images let alone video. I recently learned how to capture single frames in video and save as a photo. The videos are taken by a Sony Handycam, 4.0 mega pixels, HDR-CX100. This is by no means a sophisticated video camera. It has a 10X zoom. The only features I know how to operate on this camera are the record button and the zoom control. The camera is on full auto mode.
These photos are what they seem to be. Helicopters are flying “tree-top†level, “below-tree-top level†and “roof-top levelâ€. As you can see most of the time the skies are clear, unlimited visibility and unlimited ceilings. There is no reason for pilots of these helicopters to fly this low. In fact flying at this level is extremely unsafe. Any pilot worth his salt will tell you, “Altitude is your friend†when flying. These are examples of unsafe reckless behavior of pilots who could choose a safer altitude but they do not. Something needs to be done about this. Somebody needs to end this craziness.
I have documented the noise from these helicopters at 90+dBA when they are flying at these levels over my house in a residential neighborhood. The constant torturing and tormenting (words from Congressman Bishop and Senator Schumer’s press release) of citizens in the residential neighborhoods is creating anger all over Long Island.
For three years I have gathered noise data with almost 400 entries of 75dBA and higher sound events of helicopters in a thirteen month period of time. This data is posted on the website: www.ehhelicopternoise.com. I have gathered hundreds of video clips of helicopters flying tree-top and roof-top level and posted on the website. It appears for many years nothing is being done about this problem or if something is being done, it is not working. The problem continues to get worse and it is not sustainable. I believe the political officials that have the power to end this madness have neither the political will nor the testicular fortitude to stop or control the behavior of these pilots. It is obvious from the images below the pilots are cowboy bush pilots. They have no consideration for safety or the folks living in residential neighborhoods. It amazes me that paying passengers are willing to put their lives at risk just to arrive in the Hamptons one hour earlier than if they had taken ground transportation. These passengers are not smart by any stretch of the imagination.
For this reason I use this website to expose the identities of the helicopters, the owners of the helicopters and to document and inform the political officials and FAA who have the ability and power to change this situation.
Hopefully we can educate the passengers that fly to East Hampton. The passengers may no longer wish to put their lives at risk for such a ridiculous reason as arriving in the Hamptons one hour sooner. If that occurs then the helicopter taxi services may cease for lack of paying passengers. The owners of these helicopters on the other hand, may instruct their pilots to rather take the southern route over Georgica Pond into the airport to avoid having the photos of their helicopters posted on this website. That is a much safer option and it will impact far fewer residential homes. I believe it will stop many of the complaints that are plaguing elected officials but it won’t solve the problem. Many times government intervenes to protect people from themselves. I believe this is one of those times government needs to consider more regulation and enforcement.
When one views these photos it must be noted that I captured only a fraction of the helicopters that fly low over this area. Most of the time, I am not home. My wife gets me out of the house during the intense time periods helicopters are flying. She fears I may do something extreme. It is an unfounded fear, so we go out. Also one needs to note there are certain helicopter pilots that consistently fly extremely low. They have made an utter nuisance of themselves as well as the owners of the aircraft and their complicit passengers.
The airport manager designed the northern route for the helicopters to fly over Northwest Creek and then into the airport. It must be noted, my house is far to the west of the northern route. These pilots are “cutting the corner†by Sag Harbor and are fly west of the northern route. The airport manager informed me he also has an agreement with the pilots to fly 2,500 ft. over the residential neighborhoods. At 2,500 ft. I still record 75 dBA noise levels. Helicopters are capable of flying 2,500 – 3,000 ft. until they are over the airport and then descend in a circular pattern downward into the airport. If all helicopters were required to do this, as an airport pattern for helicopters, there would be a much safer and more orderly approach into the airport. Fixed wing aircraft practice such a pattern at 1,000 feet altitude.
It is painfully clear to everyone on the ground that most helicopter pilots are not following what was agreed to as the airport manager claims, therefore strict regulation and enforcement is required. Folks, we do the same on our streets, why doesn’t the FAA do it here? It is unbelievable except here is the photo evidence.
N38TH – 5/6/2011 7:33 PM. Aircraft: Aerospatiale, AS 365 N2 Dauphin (Eurocopter). Registered Owner: Sony Corporate Services, Inc., 177 Industrial Ave Hngr. 12, Teterboro, NJ. Are corporate assets being used to fly Sony execs to their personal homes in the Hamptons only to get them to the Hamptons one hour earlier? Do Sony Shareholders know about this? Should the IRS investigate this?

This photo and the next are sequential shots. Both my wife and I have witnessed helicopters clipping leaves off the tree tops. Does this make anyone else shutter in astonishment? I believe this is so over-the-top unsafe that this pilot should have his license revoked for good. I wonder what Sony shareholders would think if they knew how reckless this pilot is with their executive’s lives. I believe Sony should terminate this pilot for being reckless with corporate assets.

This pilot is not descending when he flies into the airport. He comes in hot and level, screaming over the tree tops. This is a common occurrence with this helicopter. These photos speak for themselves.
N85LF – 6/4/2011 2:15 PM. Aircraft: Sikorsky S-76C. Registered Owner: Five Star Holding Co, LLC, 26500 Curtiss Wright Pkwy, Highland Heights, Ohio. Next we should do a corporate search to find out who owns these LLC holding companies.

Does this ownership scream tax loophole to you? Is this what Obama is referring to? Perhaps he needs to end these corporate tax loop holes.
N152TA – 5/28/2011 4:32 PM. Aircraft: Aerospatiale AS350B1 Ecureuil. Registered Owner: Meridian Consulting I Corp Inc, PO Box 1338, Linden, NJ. Looks like corporate assets hard at work to bring execs out to the Hamptons one hour earlier.

This pilot is especially consistent in recklessly buzzing the tree tops and roof tops as can be seen in this and the next four photos.

N178MT – 5/30/2011 6:04 PM. Aircraft: Eurocopter AS365N3 Registered Owner: EES LLC, 6 E 81st Street, NY, NY 10028-0201. Here you see this pilot screaming in hot and level. He is only one mile from the airport and his landing gears are not down yet. This is not a descent of some glide path the airport manager tries to explain to the public.
N178MT – 9/12/2010 2:21 PM. Aircraft: Eurocopter AS365N3 Registered Owner: EES LLC, 6 E 81st Street, NY, NY 10028-0201. Airport Manager, Mr. Brundige, this helicopter is descending into the tree tops. He explained to me helicopters fly low over my house because they are on a glide path. Any glide path will put this helicopter into the ground one mile short of the airport.

Do you think it could be for liability reasons? Negligence liability?

Apparently Mr. Klarchek from Capital First Realty seems to be a rather notorious character from Chicago based on posting on the internet. See comment written to story below. Hopefully we won’t see this helicopter around anymore. Maybe it is karma for torturing and tormenting the good folks of East Hampton with their helicopters. Kind of makes you think of the personality type that would fly helicopters that is seen here.

Note the nails on the roof of my house how they are backing out of the trim boards. This is caused by vibrations from helicopters. I talk about damage being done to homes from helicopters. This is a great shot of that damage. The sheetrock nails inside the house are also backing out causing “nail poppingâ€. Who will pay for the damage?

The two photo sequence above truly captures the horror of the torture and torment we are enduring as these helicopters recklessly endanger our lives.
Helifite Shares owns several helicopters in addition to N430HF that consistently fly into East Hampton Airport: N431HF; N432HF and N19HF. I will list the photos following as N430HF only for consistency.

N19HF – Registered Owner: Heliflite Shares LLC. Other Owners: None listed
The following quote from Heliflight Share’s website confirms what I have been saying all along. This is not about transportation per se. This is about folks wanting to come to the Hamptons one hour earlier than ground transportation. In doing so, they torture and torment thousands of residential property owners on Long Island and rob them of the peaceful enjoyment of their property. That is grotesque and absurd. Wake up elected officials and end this nightmare.
“Why Heliflite There will likely come a time when you discover a need to get from Point A to Point B faster than you ever have before. When you have to do a run-through of your meeting in New York, then present barely an hour later in Philadelphia. Or when you feel the urge to make every hour count over a magical long weekend in the Hamptons. When that time comes you will understand the remarkable beauty of HeliFliteâ„¢â€
Their website talks about safety of their personnel: “All HeliFlite pilots are trained on a recurring basis by FlightSafety International. FlightSafety is the premier training provider for business aircraft globally.â€
I don’t know what they are teaching at FlightSafety International or perhaps the pilots did not take well to safety training. The photos above and herein do not substantiate the claims this company is making. Folks, passengers, you are putting your life in these pilot’s hands…all to save one hour to get to the Hamptons. Any company can make claims but seeing is believing. Perhaps impatience or arrogance trumps intelligence. Smart People Don’t Fly Helicopters.

To understand how the folks on the ground are being duped, go back and look at the the Heliflite photos above. Then consider the quote below from James Brundige, East Hampton Airport Manager, in an email to me on 7/31/2010 as a result of the 6/27/2010 Heliflite photos:
“I have been on vacation and did not receive your email until today. I had a very productive discussion with Heliflite and they have agreed to, when possible, weather permitting, remain east of your neighborhood and make all of their approaches to the east end of the airport. This should have had a substantially positive affect on the impact helicopters have on your property.â€
Is James Brundige lying to me? Are Heliflite representatives lying to Mr. Brundige? Was his discussion productive? Based on what? Did the pilots not get the memo? Does Heliflite have control of their pilots? Do they know what is going on?
Then on 7/10/2011 I get an email from Town of East Hampton Councilwoman, Theresa Quigley:
“While I am not the liaison to the airport and therefore do not deal with the issue directly, it is my understanding that the Town has been working on the issue, and did make some adjustments. I am aware that the adjustments have only partially alleviated the problem, both from your posts as well as from the fact that our home too lies in the path of the helicopters.â€
What? Madam, are you serious? Can your understanding be this wrong? You are a lawyer, consider the documentary evidence herein. Perhaps what the Town is working on isn’t producing results. Perhaps what she means is the helicopters are no longer flying over her house. That will make sense since when the helicopters fly over my house (which is not under the northern route), the helicopters are far west of the Councilwoman’s house. Did the airport manager shift the northern route away from the Councilwoman’s house?
The shear craziness of the situation; while thousands of folks on the ground are being tortured and tormented so a few passengers arrive in the Hamptons one hour earlier. Are you serious? Madam, you must end this. The Town Board has the power to shut this airport down. For God’s sake, do something! What could possibly justify these activities?
It will be an interesting study to research the corporations and LLCs listed with these helicopters to find out who the individuals are that are hiding behind the corporate walls. Are they hiding from the IRS, using corporate assets for personal use? Clearly vacationing in the Hamptons is a personal use. Are they hiding from the public trying to remain anonymous as they torture and torment the residential folks on the ground? They should be exposed for the behavior seen herein.
The FAA is responsible for safety of aircraft. Why isn’t the FAA doing their job? Why is the FAA allowing this reckless behavior to continue? Why is the FAA allowing the harassment of folks on the ground? Why is our government not protecting the folks on the ground?
Why are helicopters becoming a common form of transportation, when thousands of folks on the ground are being tortured and tormented by the noise? The cost-benefit analysis does not justify their use. Where are the smart people in our government?

This helicopter can be seen flying into East Hampton Airport several times a day on Labor Day. It appears Mr. Rennert ferries people to and from his home in Sagaponack. Why is he flying over my house and us poor folks north of the highway? Why is he throwing his noise pollution trash north of the highway? Is this class warfare? Why doesn’t he take the southern route, fly over his house in Sagaponack or up Georgica Pond and over his partner, Ron Perelman’s house? Ron Perelman owns a helicopter, he can’t complain about helicopter noise. Doesn’t Mr. Rennert like the sound of his own helicopter? Would he rather torture and torment the poor folks north of the highway? The folks living north of the highway are working folks, so why is Mr. Rennert tormenting them on our holiday, Labor Day? Isn’t that rude and inconsiderate? All this, to save one hour travel time. Is this smart? Wouldn’t it be smarter to buy a bus to ferry people to and from his home? Isn’t this a perfect reason why certain regulations need to be increased?
The Sikorsky S-92A also known as “Helibusâ€, seats 19 passengers and costs over $32Million. Are the costs and operations of this helicopter written off as a corporate expense?
The shocking part of the FAA Registry report is the Airworthiness Classification is listed as “Experimental†and the Airworthiness Category is listed as “Research and Development to show compliance with FARâ€. Are you kidding me? An experimental, Ramp;D helicopter is flying this low over residential homes and nobody considers this unsafe or outrageously dangerous? I can attest that this helicopter is so huge and noisy that the vibrations are literally shaking my house under my feet like an earthquake when it flies by.
N312RG – 7/24/2011 – 9:55 AM; Aircraft: Sikorsky S-76C; Registered Owner: Rencopter 312 LLC, 1 Rockefeller Plz. Fl. 29. The Airworthiness Classification is Experimental; Category is Research and Development to Show Compliance with FAR. This is another Ira Rennert helicopter. Mr. Rennert not only has one but two helicopters ferrying people to and from East Hampton. Both of these helicopters are experimental. What is this all about? I remember when Mr. Rennert was building his massive home in Sagaponack, folks were questioning what he was going to use all that space for. They were saying it had to be more that a vacation home. Perhaps we should be asking the people getting on and off the helicopters. Mr. Rennert has two helicopters he chooses not to fly over his property but instead over us poor folks north of the highway. Us poor folks north of the highway vote and East Hampton Town Board has the power to close the airport. Mr. Rennert…in the end do you really think you can win. Don’t bet on it.
